In the run-up to Art Basel and Art Central taking place in late March, Hong Kong has received one more major artistic credential to add to its sleeve in the form of the Harbour Arts Sculpture Park. Created in conjunction with the Hong Kong Arts Centre and H Queen’s, the free sculpture park features museum-quality works by 19 artists from 7 countries – among which five artists hail from Hong Kong – scattered throughout Tamar Park as well as at the campus of the neighbouring Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Academy for Performing Arts.

The selection was curated by Fumio Nanjo, Director of Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum, and Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts, creating a dialogue between the sculptures and the verticality of Hong Kong’s incredibly dense urban fabric.

We took a trip down to Tamar Park ahead of the sculpture park’s official unveiling for a look at the works of art, as well as a quick chat with Mr. Marlow on how to best appreciate the sculptures. Catch the artworks before the exhibition ends on April 11.
