In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Plaza Premium Group, best known for its worldwide network of award-winning, pay-for-use airport lounges, has added a luxury tier to its service offerings in the form of Plaza Premium First.
Having won Skytrax’s World’s Best Independent Airport Lounge three years in a row, the Plaza Premium Group hopes to enrich its lounge portfolio, which has long been popular for catering to anyone and everyone regardless of accrued air miles.
Differentiating itself from the regular tier, Plaza Premium First was designed by renowned local designer Kinney Chan along the concept of Funneling the Noise” – where travellers cross over from the chaotic, institutional public areas of the terminal to enter a tranquil club-like retreat where they can relax and ready themselves for the flight ahead.
Boasting features that would normally only be found in first-class lounges, such as brand partnerships with Glenlivet, Beyond Burger and TWG for a first-class experience, lounge access begins at HK$880. Click through the gallery below to find out what sets Plaza Premium First apart.
Luxury materials in calming hues demarcate the oasis of the lounge from the airport at large. Lounge ambassadors receive guests for a guided tour of the space.
Cushy appointments fill the 8,770sqft space, allowing travellers to sink back and relax before their flight. Guests can also treat themselves to a complimentary 10-minute neck and shoulder massage, or a shower using Elemis skincare products.
The TWG tea bar offers tea mocktails, such as Pink Rose, mixed using TWG Bain de Roses tea, pink grapefruit juice, Japanese yuzu soda and Thai basil. The adjacent AeroBar also features a dessert bar with some house-made cakes such as Gourmand 55%, as well as a selection of Italian Lavazza espresso drinks.
A bartender at AeroBar prepares the Classic Espresso Martini, featuring Lavazza Espresso Crema e Aroma, Absolut vodka and Kahlúa rum. The drinks menu is rotated seasonally.
Of note is the bar's selection of premium whiskys by Pernod Ricard, including Glenlivet 25 years old, Aberlour A’bunadh, Longmorn 16 years old and Scapa Glansa. Hand-sliced Iberico ham is available to complement.
Primo is the lounge's table-service restaurant, offering a seasonal, à la carte menu that is made to order.
First has partnered with Green Monday to be the first airport lounge in Asia to serve the plant-based Beyond Meat burger, paired with sweet potato fries.
A highlight at Primo, the Maine Lobster and Capellini served with aromatic lobster velouté. Other dishes include Traditional Marinated Goose with Marinated Egg served with steamed rice. A children's menu is also available.
