New York-based interdisciplinary architecture and design firm Rockwell Group unveils the new interiors for the guestrooms and public spaces at the W Hotel in Nashville.
W Nashville takes the stage in the heart of The Gulch, just steps from Music Row and Midtown. Striking the Music City chord with curated local tunes, garden-to-glass cocktails and welcoming communal spaces, the design takes cue from the ever-changing cultural landscape of Nashville to reflect the city’s transformative role and distinct heritage.
The large Living Room, which doubles as a lobby, is inspired by Nashville’s identity as “Music City,” a place where musicians came to create, record and perform at such venues as the RCA Studio-B, the historic Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry.
The hotel boasts a dramatic pool area featuring a pool bar and private cabanas with wood screen walls. Nearby, the ballroom’s design echoes the quilting techniques of Nashville artists. Its metal-and-glass framed corridor façade creates some transparency between the event spaces and pre-function area, bringing daylight all the way through the floor.
Guest rooms are inspired by vintage stereo equipment and Nashville’s more intimate moments. The bathroom can be open to the room or hidden behind sliding panels. The large, singular bedhead anchors the room with a curved upholstered back that connects to a built-in daybed. The rooms also feature a commissioned silkscreen by the Brooklyn-based artist duo FAILE for the hotel, completing the design.
