Could you describe your design philosophy, and how it came about?

Our design philosophy strives on creating personal and tailor-made spaces, as most of our projects are private residences. Inspired by our client’s stories, we translate their inspiration through our exploration of materials, tectonics, and proportions to create unique spaces into each project. I always persist to a strong process on how things are made and put together. When I founded the practice almost 10 years ago, I immersed myself in exploring materiality and construction details, always seeking to create interesting design elements through a good understanding of construction techniques. We aspire not just to be good designers, but also skilled tailors, crafting environments that truly resonate with our clients.

Which project(s) are you most proud of this year?

One project we are particularly proud of this year is 52 Gage, our first retail venture focused on lifestyle goods. We custom designed the various cabinets with a modular approach, ensuring both beauty and functionality. Collaborating closely with our contractor, Project Limited, we achieved an efficient production and assembly. It demonstrates that we can marry our design ideals with the practicalities of efficient construction, setting a new standard for our future projects.

What's your go-to spot that inspires you the most creatively?

I try to go to the cinema whenever I can as I love to watch movies. My go-to theatre is the Broadway Cinematheque in Yau Ma Tei as they always have a wide variety of selections. My second place is the Hong Kong Open Printshop at JCCAC. I am currently on the board and volunteer to help on my free time as I love being around a group of passionate printmakers. I have been making intaglio copper plate since 2006. I have picked up lithography for the past few years and have fallen in love with the art. The process of printmaking has stimulated me to be creative in an expressive and instantaneous way – super fun and meditative for me.
