He openly admitted to struggling in school, eventually dropping out in his third year of secondary education. Following in his father's footsteps, he learned the trade of renovation work, but felt lost and without direction, just drifting through life. But fate had other plans. A series of unexpected coincidences led him to cross paths with an artist, and it was through this encounter that he stumbled upon his true passion for art, painting, and design, discovering a sense of purpose he never knew he had.

When he was young, he never had the heart to study, but suddenly fell in love with learning due to art. He said, "Every day, I would go to work, and then attend art classes; I work to earn money to pay for tuition fees."

At some point in life, everyone encounters a few important people in their life who guide them through difficulties or lead them to new paths. Joe's experience was no different. He spent four and a half years completing his art course and graduated with outstanding results. After that, his teacher suggested that he pursue interior design. As a result, his final project in interior design won top prize, surpassing his peers. Art and design became his new horizon, allowing him to discover his passion in life. Another teacher advised him to study abroad in the UK, but at the time, this seemed like an unattainable dream - not only did he not speak English well, but he also had limited financial resources, with little money to spare. However, the teacher encouraged him to keep this dream in mind and never forget it.

In his twenties, for the sake of his dreams, he decided to sell his house and bring his wife and children to study in London, England. He experienced a wonderful journey blessed by heaven, met friends from a Chinese church, and ultimately graduated with excellent results, earning a master's degree, and even received the "Outstanding International Student Award" in the UK.

The days of smooth sailing once made him arrogant and proud. After returning to Hong Kong, he was eager to start a business, but encountered obstacles everywhere. In the midst of ups and downs, he gradually realised the need to find an untapped but promising field. So in 2013, his interior design company began to provide mural services, paving a new path.

The company he founded, Y's Concept, is Hong Kong's first interior design firm dedicated to promoting SDGs, ESG and the integration of art and technology. Based on environmentally sustainable materials, it combines artistic techniques to create spaces with timeless beauty and practical function. Integrating the design concept of mural art, it brings out a unique character and exquisite taste that leaves a deep impression.

Speaking of his most unforgettable mural work, he pointed to the world's largest 3D painting, which he completed at a school in Zhaoqing, Guangdong in 2019. He said, "We braved the cold wind and painted on the 40,000+ square foot 3D floor, setting a world record."

The Hong Kong Mural Association that he founded has forged strategic partnerships with eco-friendly paint suppliers, social enterprises promoting inclusive art, and a diverse advisory team comprising experts from art, the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, law, and education. With unwavering dedication, he declared, "My mission is to bring art to the masses, enrich the art world, and give back to society."

Guided by his conviction that art can bring positive energy, he established the charity "Love Forward" in 2016. This initiative aims to promote mural art in schools, providing underprivileged students with the opportunity to co-create vibrant murals. At the core of his philosophy lies the belief that mutual connection and support are essential for achieving a harmonious and prosperous society, where everyone emerges victorious.
