Could you describe your design philosophy, and how it came about?
Our design philosophy is centred on the seamless integration of engineering and design, blending technical precision with artistic expression. This commitment forms the foundation of everything we do. Galaxy Design emerged from a deep passion for exploring spatial design. As licensed professional engineers, we recognise that a space must not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also structurally sound, functionally practical, and crafted with care. We believe that every space should perfectly fuse art and science, striking a balance between form and function.
Which project(s) are you most proud of this year?
The most unforgettable this year has been a standalone house project in Sai Kung's Tai Mong Tsai. This unit faces the sea, and the clients wanted a design that was minimalist, yet distinctive. We incorporated many unique elements into the design to infuse personality and challenge into the project. It's expected to be completed by the end of December, and we hope it will be a contender for next year’s design awards. This process has been full of challenges, but it has also prompted us to rethink how to achieve a perfect balance between creativity and functionality in a demanding space.
What's your go-to spot that inspires you the most creatively?
The seaside. As an avid fishing enthusiast, time spent on the water allows me to escape the constant barrage of calls and messages. With the gentle sway of the waves, I feel a sense of comfort and ease. Being away from the hustle and bustle helps me clear my mind and reflect on my daily experiences, sparking new inspiration. The vastness of the ocean and its natural rhythms teach me how space design should offer users a tranquil and comfortable experience, which is a core perspective that often inspires my designs.
What's next for your company?
Our vision is to elevate functional spaces to the realm of artistic expression by fusing science and aesthetics. We strive not merely to fulfil our clients' practical needs, but to imbue our designs with emotional resonance and lasting value.
