Could you describe your design philosophy and how it came about?
I often describe myself as a creative nomad, a term that resonates deeply with my creative journey. From a young age, I’ve never constrained myself to a certain discipline, allowing my creativity to flourish across various fields. Living and studying across three continents has shown me the size of the world and opened my eyes to the power and possibility of design across cultures and time. My design philosophy is deeply rooted in curiosity, empathy, and a genuine consideration for human experience, shaped significantly by my professional background in branding, where I mastered the art of storytelling. The overarching ideas behind branding are often very rich and holistic, while physical touch-points are not quite so. I believe that a brand's essence should lie in the details of every touch-point.
With this in mind, my team and I set out to weave our storytelling skills into three-dimensional spaces. From immersive brand environments to bespoke residential interiors, each project is approached with care and intent. Through a branding approach to interior design, we aim to forge connections that resonate on a personal level, inviting our audiences to step into the rich stories in every space we design.
Which project(s) are you most proud of this year?
DOCK 1A – One of our largest full-service projects for an upcoming shopping mall. This was our first project of this magnitude. We worked with our client from their brand strategy and collateral to interior, fixtures, and signage designs, allowing us to showcase ourselves on a comprehensive scale. I’m very proud that our team is growing and continuing to push our creative boundaries.
Cargoholic – Our ongoing interior project for an office space spanning over two storeys and 13,500 square feet, both indoor and outdoor. Given the challenges for office spaces posed by the pandemic, it was exciting to dive into this aspect of our services and reimagine what office spaces could look like in a post-COVID world. We were able to create a holistic and quintessential working environment for all levels of employees.
JC Residence – Our recent residential interior project. This small apartment project reflected the trend and needs of homeowners who are travelling more. We embraced the tendency towards smaller, bespoke living spaces, focusing on thoughtful details and functions. It was fun and fulfilling to design a bespoke abode that resonates with this new lifestyle in Hong Kong.
What's your go-to spot in Hong Kong that inspires you the most creatively?
One of my go-to spots for creative inspiration is actually a bus ride through the streets of Hong Kong. There's something truly invigorating about watching the city unfold from the window. However, if I had to choose a place that embodies my passion for diversity and creativity, it would be Shanghai. The city's energetic atmosphere and international culture create a perfect backdrop for innovation, and I've always noticed how happy people seem there. Additionally, I find Florence inspiring due to its rich history, artistic heritage, and breathtaking art. The beauty of its architecture and the stories behind it always fuels my creativity and sparks new ideas.
What's next for your company?
We’ve seen significant opportunities in the Chinese market, and we are excited to enhance our operations and partnerships there through our world-class service and global design narrative. Currently, we have branched off with an office in Shenzhen and recently completed our first trade fair in Shanghai, and we can't help, but feel a surge of excitement for what lies ahead. When I envision our company, I see a strong tree trunk rooted in our values and vision – branching out into new ventures that reflect our commitment to growth and collaboration. Over the next few years, we aim to cultivate relationships that are not just beneficial, but enriching for both our agency and our partners. This journey is about more than just business; it’s about exploring diverse opportunities and creating a community where innovation flourishes. I’m genuinely excited to see how we can all grow together in this adventure!
