Having grown up in a rural village, Andy Wan, interior designer and founder of Pure AW’s Designers Ltd, has always had a proclivity for raw materials found in the local neighbourhood, which he used to handmake into toys. In equal measure, the majestic silhouettes and calming palettes of nature have been hallmarks of the evocative textiles and bespoke upholsteries from Coltex Furnishing that founder Cally Chan curates and designs in London.
“Nature and the environment have been my main sources of inspiration and the irreplaceable elements in our design,” explains Andy, whose portfolio brims with residences across Hong Kong imbued in natural timber and a zen-like sensibility. “Both of us are nature lovers,” agrees Cally, who cites hiking as a journey of studying and discovering inspiration. “Specifically, Coltex Furnishing’s recycled yarn fabrics are relevant to Andy’s concept of raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability.” Mixing combinations of patterns, textures, prints and hues is also how Andy conjures the precise ambience in mind for his projects. “With the exceptional quality of Coltex Furnishing's materials, it surely makes a difference,” says Andy.
