A low-saturation palette and smart tailoring maximise light and flow in this serene sanctuary.

Some apartments chase statement pieces; this Bellagio home edits everything down to a soft, streamlined calm. This 891 sq ft residence at Bellagio is designed by SDesign around a cohesive, warm minimalist theme, building its foundations on a gentle palette of pure white, light timber and pearl tones, accented with subtle champagne‑gold steel details. By tying colour discipline to everyday function, the design team has created a streamlined, practical home that feels open, inviting and quietly precise.

The thoughtful execution of color and layout begins right at the entrance. While traditional entryways often rely on heavy partition screens that block natural light and sightlines, this project introduces a more fluid boundary. The team used custom feature tiles underfoot to map out the mudroom dust zone, separating it from the main living quarters through a clear shift in texture. The adjacent walls integrate versatile pegboards that match the home’s soft color scheme, keeping everyday accessories organized without cluttering the first visual viewpoint.

Moving inwards, the open-plan lounge and dining area maximize the sense of space. To build an elevated atmosphere, the design team implemented a strict “2+1” color and material rule. Utilising two harmonious tones—pure white and light timber—as the primary canvas for the walls and large surfaces, they maintained a clean visual baseline. They then introduced champagne gold metallic hardware in tailored increments, such as cabinet handles and slim glass frames. This subtle material contrast sharpens the room’s refinement within a calm, low-saturation environment.

This balanced presentation is supported by a disciplined approach to storage volumes, which keeps the living area feeling broad and airy. The design team avoided placing tall, dominating cabinets within the principal sightlines. Instead, large-scale storage is concentrated within a single tall side cabinet in the dining zone, leaving the lounge and master bedroom unburdened. By introducing floating, low-profile loose credenzas to these relaxation areas, spatial pressure is minimized, allowing natural light to circulate easily throughout the white-toned interior. The layout remains clean and functional, anchoring a bespoke bench seat along the window ledge where the owners can relax surrounded by tailored lines.

The corridor connecting the communal and private zones continues this cohesive color logic. The design team intentionally simplified the hallway by seamlessly integrating the doors into the wall paneling to protect the visual baseline. Soft, motion-sensor nightlights are installed along the passage to guide navigation safely at night, acting as a gentle spatial bridge that transitions from the open social quarters to the quiet privacy of the bedrooms.

This seamless flow culminates at the end of the corridor with a meticulously crafted walk-in closet – each element demonstrating an intersection of cohesive color harmony and smart space planning.

Tips

Apply the 2+1 color rule
Paint large surfaces with pure white and light timber to secure a gentle canvas. Contrast this base by adding champagne gold hardware to cabinet handles and glass frames. This simple texture swap instantly sharpens the room’s refinement.

Deploy high-low storage
Clear primary sightlines by keeping tall cabinets out of the living area. Concentrate heavy storage within a single dining zone high-cabinet, then place low-profile, movable pieces in relaxation areas. This cuts visual pressure and unlocks future layout flexibility.

Convert deep window sills
Transform structural sills into functional assets. Top lounge and guest sills with timber panels and cushions to build relaxed daybeds. In the master bedroom, extend the sill flush with a desk or form an L-shaped vanity to claim a premium workspace.
