A good cabinet is only as polished as its edges. HUAFULI brings made-to-match panels and joinery finishes to a new 2,800 sq ft gallery in Wan Chai.
A cabinet edge may be a small detail, but it can affect how joinery looks, wears and copes with Hong Kong’s humidity. That is where HUAFULI began – with edge banding, before expanding into a broader range of materials for doors, walls and cabinetry.
The mainland Chinese decorative-panel brand has now opened its first Hong Kong flagship in Wan Chai. Dubbed the HUAFULI Hong Kong Home Art Gallery, the 2,800 sq ft showroom brings together panels, edge banding, door fronts, mouldings and hardware in one place. The aim is to give designers, contractors and homeowners a more practical way to explore materials for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors.

Located on Lockhart Road, among Wan Chai’s long-established building-material suppliers, the gallery uses full-scale settings to show how the materials work across doors, wall panelling and cabinetry. Designers, contractors and homeowners can compare finishes, textures and edge details in person.

The opening, themed “HUAFULI: A New Chapter in Hong Kong”, was officiated by Jacky Tan Xujie, Vice Chairman of Dongguan Huali Industries Co., Ltd.; Xie Zhikun, CEO and Co-founder of Dongguan Huali Industries Co., Ltd.; Lu Xuqiu and Wang Tangxin, Co-founders of Dongguan Huali Industries Co., Ltd.; Ji Juntao, Vice President of Dongguan Huali Industries Co., Ltd.; and Ken So, Sales Manager of the Hong Kong Region, HUAFULI. Hong Kong actor, three-time TV King and HUAFULI Brand Spokesperson Wayne Lai Yiu-cheung also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and took part in a live contract-signing ceremony.

Building on 30 years
HUAFULI is part of Dongguan Huali Industries Co., Ltd., a company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Established in 1995, the group started out in furniture edge banding and has spent three decades developing materials for the furniture and interiors sector.
Over time, it has grown from a specialist manufacturer into a supplier of decorative panels, edge banding and home hardware. The company says it has provided furniture materials for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and the Shenzhen 2011 Summer Universiade.

At the Wan Chai showroom, finishes range from timber and stone effects to leather-look, textile-inspired, plain-colour, gloss, matt and metallic surfaces. Panels, edge bands, mouldings and hardware are designed to work together in matching colours and patterns, helping designers avoid the small shifts in tone that can occur when materials are sourced from several suppliers.
That matters when a single finish is used across a room. A timber grain can continue from a door to wall panelling and built-in storage, rather than being interrupted by mismatched components or a visible edge line.

An edge against humidity
Hong Kong’s humidity makes edge finishing more than a cosmetic concern. When edging is poorly applied or begins to separate, moisture and dirt can reach the exposed edge of a board, which may lead to staining or discolouration over time.
HUAFULI’s Patented Laser Edge Banding 2.0 uses a laser-activated, colour-matched layer to bond the edge band to the panel. Compared with standard hot-melt adhesive, the system is designed to leave less visible glue, reduce yellowing and create a cleaner join between the surface and its edge. The company also says it improves resistance to heat, water and humidity.

This is particularly useful for white cabinetry, where even a faint line of glue — or a slight shift in colour between the panel and its edging — can be obvious under artificial light. Using matching components helps keep the finish consistent across the front and sides of doors and tall storage units.

Materials and logistics
The showroom includes HUAFULI’s German-Japanese Nano-Microcrystalline EBH series, which combines German plasma-spraying with Japanese precision light-curing technology. The company says the surface is designed to resist fingerprints, scratches, mould, bacteria and yellowing, while remaining easy to clean.
Also available are water-based painted door panels, electrostatic powder-coated door panels, particle board, multi-layer plywood and oriented strand board. These provide different options for projects that need particular levels of moisture resistance, structural strength or low-emission materials. HUAFULI says its boards meet China’s ENF Grade standard and Japan’s JIS JAS F☆☆☆☆ (F4-Star) standard, and have received Hong Kong Green Label Scheme certification.

With six production bases in mainland China and 14 branch warehouses, HUAFULI offers no minimum order quantity, no inventory requirement for local partners, same-day responses and next-day delivery. The company plans to use Hong Kong as a base for overseas expansion, supplying coordinated door-wall-cabinet materials for residential, commercial and hospitality projects.
