Kaohsiung has just pulled off the ultimate city makeover.

Kaohsiung, Taiwans southern port city, has lit up six major landmarks in pink for BLACKPINKs concert this weekend. The city is running the “LIGHT UP Kaohsiung IN PINK” campaign through to 19 October.

The pink lights cover the Love River, Great Harbour Bridge, Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal, Kaohsiung Music Center, Kaohsiung Station and R10 Formosa Boulevard Station. They turn on every night from 5:30 to 10:30pm from now until 19 October.

Live Nation Taiwan organized the lighting display for the K-pop groups “DEADLINE” world tour stop. Hotels across Kaohsiung are fully booked, and room rates have jumped to nearly HK$7,000 per night. The demand is so high that hotels in neighbouring Taiwanese cities like Tainan and Pingtung are also seeing higher prices.

The concert is boosting Taiwans tourism industry. Restaurants and shops across Kaohsiung are preparing for the crowds. The pink lighting campaign puts the Taiwanese city in the international spotlight while BLACKPINK performs.
