The Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto, Japan, is now home to the Flower Parent and Child sculpture created by Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Takashi Murakami.
The installation, which was first revealed in Tokyo in 2020, now takes center stage as part of the Takashi Murakami — Mononoke Kyoto exhibition at the museum. Showcasing a stunning collection of 170 works by the esteemed Japanese contemporary artist, the exhibition offers visitors a captivating glimpse into Murakamis artistic world.
During the COVID pandemic, the French fashion house Louis Vuitton joined forces with Murakami to produce a sculpture that represents hope. This artwork, called Flower Parent and Child is now placed on a pond in the museums garden and is covered in a golden cast. It features a large Monogram Multicolour Trunk, reminiscent of the one created for Louis Vuitton and Murakamis collaborative project in 2003. Murakami kept the trunks canvas exterior, metal accents and wooden structure. The sculpture which measures 13 metres high, is one of the many large-scale pieces inside the exhibition.
The Takashi Murakami — Mononoke Kyoto exhibition will remain open from March 8 to September 1.
