Dubai is known for bold hospitality design, but Mercury Rooftop Bar takes the citys aesthetic ambitions to new celestial heights.
S+S (Sundukovy Sisters) Design & Architecture Studio has completed the 680-square-metre venue at Four Seasons Hotel Jumeirah, a celestial-themed rooftop bar inspired by the planet Mercury and its liquid metallic namesake.

The project marks the latest collaboration between the studio and Four Seasons Hotels, following their redesigns of Luna Sky Bar and Penrose Lounge. Positioned atop one of Dubais landmark locations, the rooftop bar combines panoramic views with an immersive cosmic narrative centered on themes of speed, reflection and fluidity.
At the heart of the design stands a sculptural liquid-silver bar, conceived as both functional element and art object. Its seamless, molten form, crafted using advanced casting techniques, references the shimmer and viscosity of mercury in constant motion. The bar glows dynamically under shifting light, creating a visual metaphor for the elements transformative properties.

A secondary champagne bar is nestled within a golden alcove, offering intimate views across the Dubai skyline. Both bars support a free-flowing layout that encourages social interaction while maintaining spatial elegance.
The material palette emphasizes movement and sensuality. Arabescato Orobico Grigio marble floors evoke planetary strata through layered veining, while tabletops in Supreme Blue quartzite, Copacabana granite and Baccarat milk onyx introduce tonal depth and variation. Custom seating upholstered in liquid-metal-effect fabrics reinforces the overarching narrative.

Kinetic art installations punctuate the space, including delicate paper pieces that respond to breezes, infusing rhythm into the environment. One tower features 3D projection mapping that animates walls and ceilings with visuals simulating quicksilver in motion, deepening the immersive experience.
The color scheme balances warm earth tones with cool metallic accents. Accent lighting highlights greenery clusters and reflects subtly off mirrored surfaces, producing an evolving glow from day to night. Soft curves and reflective finishes create continuous interplay between stillness and flow, a deliberate contrast against the buildings solid architectural frame.
