Marking three decades of Italian craftsmanship and contemporary living, MERIDIANI opens its new Hong Kong showroom at Horizon Plaza, bringing its distinctive world of materiality, personalization and timeless design closer to the city’s design community.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Italian high-end furniture and interior design brand MERIDIANI has opened a new home in Hong Kong. To mark the occasion, MERIDIANI welcomed designers from Asia Designers Community to its new showroom at Horizon Plaza for an intimate afternoon with Italia Casalino, CEO of MERIDIANI, and the brand’s international team.

The gathering offered an opportunity to discover the thinking behind MERIDIANI — from its Italian roots and craftsmanship to its distinctive approach to materials, personalization and the creation of complete interiors.

During the event, guests were introduced to the brand’s “my home is ME” philosophy and explored how MERIDIANI’s extensive choice of materials, colours, finishes and configurations allows each interior to develop its own individual identity.

30 Years of Italian Living

Founded in 1996 in Brianza, the historic furniture-making district north of Milan, MERIDIANI was born from a deep understanding of furniture craftsmanship.

Together with designer Andrea Parisio, who remains the brand’s Art Director today, MERIDIANI gradually developed a design language defined by understated elegance, precise proportions, tactile materials and a strong sense of comfort.

What began with high-end furniture has since evolved into a complete interior collection spanning four areas of contemporary living — LIVE, EAT, SLEEP and OPEN AIR.

Today, MERIDIANI is present in more than 50 countries, yet its identity remains firmly connected to its Italian origins and the craftsmanship of Brianza.

my home is ME

At the heart of MERIDIANI is a deceptively simple idea: “my home is ME”. Even the name MERIDIANI contains the word “ME” — an expression of the brand’s belief that a home should reflect the individuality of the person who lives there.

Rather than defining one fixed MERIDIANI look, the collection provides designers with a vocabulary through which they can develop their own interpretation.

A sofa, table or armchair is therefore not seen as a finished statement in isolation. Its personality can evolve through the choice of fabrics, leathers, colours, woods, marbles, metals and other finishes, as well as different configurations and combinations.

It is an approach closer to sartorial design than conventional furniture selection: the collection provides the foundation, while the final expression is shaped around the interior, the designer and the client.

Where Material Becomes Part of the Design

This freedom of expression is supported by one of MERIDIANI’s defining strengths: materiality.

The brand offers nearly 500 fabric and leather options, together with more than 140 premium finishes encompassing stone, wood, metal, glass, lacquer and other surfaces. For MERIDIANI, these choices are not simply decorative options added at the end of the process. Material, texture and colour are integral to how each piece — and ultimately each interior — develops its character.

During the Hong Kong gathering, designers were able to experience this philosophy firsthand, exploring how different fabrics, finishes, colours and combinations can transform the same design into something distinctly personal.

For architects and interior designers, this extensive material palette creates considerable creative freedom. A MERIDIANI piece can be interpreted differently according to the architecture of a project, its colour palette, atmosphere and the personality of the client.

Made in Italy, Rooted in Brianza

Behind this flexibility is a strong manufacturing tradition. For MERIDIANI, Made in Italy is more than an indication of origin. It represents a way of making — combining craftsmanship, technical knowledge, material expertise and attention to detail.

At the brand’s approximately 10,000-square-metre production site in Misinto, Brianza, traditional furniture-making expertise works alongside contemporary production techniques. This heritage is particularly evident in MERIDIANI’s understanding of tailoring and materials, where the precision of a seam, the touch of a fabric, the proportion of a piece or the meeting of two finishes can be as important as the overall form.

The result is an understated interpretation of luxury — one expressed through proportion, touch, detail and quality, rather than excess.

A New Resource for Hong Kong’s Design Community

The new approximately 1,500-square-foot MERIDIANI Hong Kong showroom at Horizon Plaza has been conceived to bring this philosophy to life.

Rather than presenting furniture simply as individual display pieces, the space brings together furniture, fabrics, colours, textures and finishes to demonstrate how the MERIDIANI language can be translated into a complete interior atmosphere.

For Hong Kong’s architects and interior designers, the showroom also serves as a design resource — a place to experience materials firsthand, compare finishes and explore different possibilities for their projects.

Designers are also encouraged to use the showroom as an extension of their own design process, whether exploring ideas with the local team, reviewing materials for a specific project or visiting together with their clients.

The opening represents a new chapter for MERIDIANI in Asia, while giving Hong Kong’s design community more direct access to the brand and its highly personalized approach to interiors.

MERIDIANI × Happyology

The Hong Kong showroom has been developed in partnership with Happyology, MERIDIANI’s local partner in Hong Kong.

With experience in the high-end and luxury furniture market, Happyology provides local project support for designers and clients — from product selection and specification to exploring fabrics, materials, finishes and configurations.

For more specific customization or technical requirements, the local team works closely with MERIDIANI in Italy, while supporting the quotation, ordering, delivery and installation process in Hong Kong.

Happyology can also work directly with design practices at their offices or studios, bringing relevant MERIDIANI materials and samples to support project discussions and specification.

The partnership is intended to make MERIDIANI’s extensive possibilities more accessible to the local design community — whether a designer is developing an entire residence, searching for a particular piece, or looking for a specific material expression for a project.

As MERIDIANI enters its fourth decade, its arrival in Hong Kong brings the brand’s philosophy particularly close to home: there is no single formula for how an interior should look. Instead, through craftsmanship, material, colour and personal expression, the home becomes something much more individual.
