“The Connections” is an 890 sq.ft. residential project in King’s Park, designed by Hong Kong interior design studio littleMORE.
Tailored for a young couple, the design centres on balancing a gentle natural wood aesthetic with practical living needs, reflecting a home design direction that values both aesthetics and functionality, while also factoring future family planning into the renovation.
In the living and dining area, easy-to-maintain oak-look flooring is paired with a wooden ceiling fan, fabric sofa and beige curtains, lending a subtle Japanese-inspired feel. Textured grey-pink wallpaper, together with layered lighting from floor and table lamps, creates a soft and comfortable atmosphere. The dining area is positioned by the corner window, furnished with a wooden dining table and bench-style custom furniture so the owners can enjoy the outdoor scenery while they eat.
The layout retains three separate rooms: the master bedroom, a study, and a multi-purpose room reserved for a future family member. This interior planning allows the owners to adjust room functions flexibly as their lifestyle evolves, enhancing the overall practicality of the space.
The semi-open kitchen serves as a key activity hub in the home, with clean glass partitions expressing a modern, minimalist sense of openness. Clear sliding glass doors separate the kitchen, effectively containing cooking fumes while still allowing the owners to interact with family in the living room while they cook. Green feature tiles line the kitchen walls, paired with practical cabinetry combining oak base units and off-white overhead cabinets, with warm lighting to echo the natural greenery outside the windows.
Different wallpaper colours are used in the rooms to distinguish their functions, in line with the project’s practical and objective design approach. The study features sky-blue textured wallpaper to create a calm working environment; the master bedroom is defined by an olive-green palette, with a storage platform and a large wardrobe to centralise storage and integrate sleeping and storage needs. The additional room is finished in moss-green wallpaper, providing a neutral backdrop for various future uses and rounding off this comprehensive interior design scheme.
In terms of lighting, a rich mix of floor lamps, pendant lights and ceiling spotlights adds depth and makes the home feel warm and inviting. The dining area is set by the living-room window, where a wooden dining table and bench face the greenery outside, complemented by a distinctive pendant lamp overhead, making time spent with family feel especially warm and joyful.
