With a focus on evoking the tranquility of water, Right Angle Studio was tasked with renovating this two-storey apartment to refresh its look.
Originally trapped in a blocked and heated condition, the 1,550 square foot house has been redesigned to maximize airflow and light.
On entering, visitors and residents are greeted by a wooden corridor that turns out to be a portal hiding the kitchen and bedroom. Theres an extended bar counter in the living room, which draws attention to the fluted details.
A customised sofa and lounge chair sit opposite each other, encouraging conversation. The dining area has a marble table and drop chairs that make the residence feel like a Japanese ryokan, with a sliding ash screen that also serves as an outdoor balcony divider.
The staircase was redesigned with a pocket bench and tailored handrail to maintain a harmonious visual relationship. Users are introduced to the spaces defining moment through an artificial skylight: Lynda Lairds serene seascape canvas.
As you go upstairs, symmetry creates a surreal, mirrored effect, with a glass facade reminiscent of a hotel suite.
