Art Central is set to make its return to Hong Kongs Central Harbourfront from 25 to 29 March 2026, with limited first release tickets available now.
As a key event during Hong Kongs Art Month, Art Central 2026 returns this year with a new platform “Central Stage”, spotlighting artists who have established themselves at major international institutions. For its first outing, Central Stage will showcase SIDE CORE, a Tokyo-based artist collective celebrated for their striking public installations that fuse street culture sensibilities with contemporary art practice.

Marking its eleventh year with UOB as Lead Partner, Art Central remains committed to its “Discover Art. Make It Yours.” philosophy, creating welcoming pathways for both seasoned collectors and curious newcomers to connect with cutting-edge contemporary work. Bringing SIDE CORE to Hong Kong represents a timely opportunity for local audiences to encounter a collective whose profile is rising rapidly on the global institutional stage.

Established in Tokyo in 2012 by Sakie Takasu, Tohru Matsushita, and Taishi Nishihiro – with Kazunori Harimoto serving as video director – SIDE CORE produces installations and site-specific interventions that examine the flow of messages through public and shared environments. Drawing deeply from street cultures visual language, they inject an unmistakable urban energy into the contemporary art sphere.

Their portfolio includes exhibitions at respected Japanese venues such as the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art and participation in the 8th Yokohama Triennale. Right now, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa is hosting a substantial survey of their work, which continues through March 2026.
This years fair has been shaped by Europe-based artist and curator Enoch Cheng, working in tandem with Hong Kong exhibition consultant Zoie Yung. “Through installations, moving image, and performance works by emerging Asian and local artists, were presenting distinctive Asian perspectives while fostering cross-cultural dialogue and advancing contemporary discourse,” says Yung.
Cheng adds: “We are excited to see these projects transforming Art Central into a distinctive platform for discovery, and I look forward to seeing them come to life in this upcoming edition”.
