A sophisticated retreat where rough beams and refined lines frame a calm, collected life.
At Kingswood Villas Kenswood Court, a retired couple looked for a home where years of travel and taste could quietly settle into everyday life. Stay Living Ltd. responds with a calm, layered interior that lets wabi-sabi simplicity, Chinese warmth and a touch of French refinement overlap without announcing any single theme.
Stepping inside, the eye follows a run of faux timber ceiling beams that sketch a clear rhythm overhead. They gently suggest the shift from living to dining and kitchen, keeping the space open while giving daily rituals their own place under the same light.
Beneath this slightly rough, tactile ceiling, the TV wall and dining bar speak in a finer accent. Slimmed-down French-inspired profiles draw shadows and proportions with a light hand, so that rugged beams and precise lines share the same frame – rough and delicate sitting comfortably together.
Eastern notes arrive as quiet punctuation: a single landscape mural, a few curated pots of greenery, more like ink touches than full scenes. In the master bedroom, a softly textured diatomaceous finish behind the bed, paired with stone in the kitchen and discreet built-in storage, keeps surfaces honest and uncluttered. The result is a retirement home that feels collected rather than decorated, where every clear wall and simple line leaves room for life to breathe.
Tips:
Touch on the East
A landscape mural or a single bonsai adds a calm, scholarly note that sits easily alongside the French-led palette.
Conceal to keep calm
Generous storage tucked behind clean doors and built-in shelving keeps daily routes clear and the home looking quietly composed.
Refine French lines
Pared-back mouldings keep the beauty of proportion without the fuss, quietly lifting the overall sense of refinement.
Zone with the ceiling
Faux timber beams lead the gaze and gently mark out living and dining without extra partitions, keeping this retirement home bright and open.
Balance rough and fine
Setting rustic beams against smooth, French-inspired profiles creates a taut play of textures and depth, steering the room away from a single, flat style.
