For designer Yulia Starikova, founder of Starikova Architects, functionality always comes first, but it doesnt mean sacrificing beauty. For one of her returning clients, she opted for warm wood, matte surfaces and Eastern-inspired elements to create a cosy home.
Located in Chelyabinsk, Russia, this 1,076 sq ft apartment combines Eastern-inspired elements with a warm colour palette. The open-plan kitchen and living area forms the apartments main space, organised into separate zones for dining, relaxing, and a bar counter positioned by the window to frame views of the surrounding pine forest.
Starikova worked with returning clients to develop an interior defined by warm tones and soft textures that reference Eastern design traditions. Each area of the open-plan space supporting different daily activities while maintaining visual continuity. It features layered materials and subtle decorative motifs throughout.
